Well, I’ve made the big move. I’m now living in the Caribbean paradise of St. Thomas in the US Virgin Islands.

It was really hard leaving behind friends and family, but it’s going to be good for me to get away from the only area I’ve lived in, the Washington DC metro area. I’ve come to believe that the stress of the fast paced life and the dishonesty of politics that permeates the entire area around the Beltway is bad for my mental and physical health.

Life here is much slower, people aren’t always in a hurry. Some people say it’s laziness but it’s more like the people understand that getting things done faster isn’t always the best way.

I’m currently sitting in my apartment just relaxing in the breeze of a fan. My electric just got turned on so I’ve disconnected the extension cord my buddy and neighbor ran me for temporary juice. We’ve got some storm clouds around so the sun isn’t too hot today.

I’ve still got two weeks to wait for my shipment of household goods including my computers, so I am running of my laptop in a fairly empty apartment for now. I’ve been getting offers of free furniture and stuff from my buddy and his friends so it’s not totally barren.
