Asshat Of The Week
I think I am going to start a weekly Asshat of the Week award and I’ve found my perfect start.
This week comes news of a public defender being cited for DUI after his motorcycle was clipped by a teenager in a Bimmer. Now I am all for arresting drunk drivers and throwing the book at them, but I am also not fond of the police abusing their power to harass someone. You see, Officer Megan Ryan of the Frederick Maryland Police department decided that a motorcycle rider with “bloodshot and glassy watery eyes” must clearly be a drunk after admitting to two beers before hoping on his motorcycle.
Once at police headquarters, he registered .6 on the blood alcohol test. The limits in the Free State are .7 for DUI and .8 for DWI. Never mind that the difference between the two designations is smaller than the variation due to body type and metabolism, the man clearly did not meet the legal definition of DUI or DWI. Yet Occifer Asshat decides to cite the #2 public defender in the state for DUI.
Now my question is, did this man receive a citation for DUI because he was DUI, or because this asshat cop doesn’t like the fact that public defenders often defend and get off, the very people they try to put in jail?
So this week we award the inaugural Asshat Of The Week Award to Officer Megan Ryan of the Frederick Maryland Police department for her tireless work in the field of Remedial Math.
