Pointless Upgrades
Ok, so I’m not a big fan of Windows Media Player, I don’t use it, so I don’t keep it upgraded. I’m visiting MS-NBC and I want to watch a live feed video, so like any normal sane monkey, I click a link to launch my chosen viewing material and it opens a page with WMP embedded in the page. I get the expected commercial before viewing my selection, I can live with that, fair trade. The video commercial plays just fine and I get all the details I want on some product I could care less about. But what happens next just floors me
The video starts to load up and I notice it’s starting with a shot of a nice looking woman in the typical talking-head shot. Obviously this is not the video on underwater basket weaving competitions that I had originally clicked on. The video starts to play, quite smoothly I might add, and this nice lady tells me that their live feed video requires an updated player.
WHAT?
You just showed me a 30 second video commercial BEFORE showing me ANOTHER video to tell me my computer can’t play your video. Does anyone else see the absurdity in what they are saying? If you can show me a video to tell me I can’t watch your video, something is wrong with you.
Ah yes, do you hear that sound? That’s the sound of Bill Gates corn holing yet another computer user.
